Episode 132 – Top 10 Dice Mechanics in Board Games

This week, we’re looking at the top 10 board game dice mechanics. These are not necessarily the top 10 dice games, but the strategy board games and card games that have the most innovative and interesting dice mechanics.

In addition to our top ten list, we have our question of the week, asking the listeners what their most anticipated games announced or released at Gen Con are.

Next up, we dig into acquisition disorders. Anthony talks about the new miniatures game from Fantasy Flight Games, Star Wars: Legion, and Chris digs into new card crafting games from AEG – Edge of Darkness and Manastorm for Mystic Vale.

At our table this week, Anthony had a chance to play The Climbers and Chris shares his feedback about the first two expansions for Mystic Vale, as well as the newest card crafting game from AEG, Custom Heroes.

Finally, we share our top 10 board game dice mechanics.

Fellow Pittsburgher here! Nice episode. There were a couple of problems with the Top 10 list. #9 was Dice Town, but a discussion of Dice City occurred, followed by a confirmation of Dice City, but talking about Dice Town with the poker hands. Was a bit confusing. Also, #8 was completely left off. What was your #8?

Thanks for the heads up! We went in and fixed it up. Dice Town is sitting on the review pile so it must have been top of mind. Dice City all the way 🙂
