Episode 50 – Our 2014 Top 50 Games of All Time!

The board game industry is booming. So much in fact that while we have a TON of favorite games, we’re hesitant to claim any of them as our all time favorites for more than this year. So for the first time, we’re proud to present our Top 50 games of all time, but only for this year.

Chris, Daniel, Drew, and Anthony scoured the list of games they’ve played with a heavy focus on the ones they’ve been playing lately and have discussed on the podcast and created a list of the fifty best of those games.

The Criteria

All games on the list must have been played by at least one member of the crew more than once. While ownership isn’t required, it was taken into consideration. After all, if a game is THAT good, someone should own it, right?

Finally, we didn’t require a consensus. As you’ll hear in a few spots, there are some disagreements between Chris and Daniel – especially over a certain Ancient Greek themed area control game.

The Top 50

So what are the top 50? More than half of the games on this list were covered at some point on the podcast and more than 75% of them have been mentioned (in most cases multiple times). For now, we’ll save the surprise of which games reign supreme for your first listen of the podcast, but check back in January, 2015 for the full list and links to the relevant podcasts where you can listen to our reviews of those games.

Disagree with any of our choices? We want to hear about it.

In fact, we need your feedback. This is a list of PURE opinion. These aren’t the best games in the industry – these are OUR favorite games and that means there will be disagreement. Leave a comment and let us know what you think, where we went wrong, and what we left out.

Finally, hop on over to BoardGameGeek and visit our guild. We want to hear what you think and start the process of putting together a listener powered Top 50 list.

Enjoy!
