Episode 51 – King of Tokyo vs King of New York

It’s a special episode this week – Anthony is back (yes that’s me – humor me for a minute). Chris and Anthony get together to talk about the year in review, as well as a lot of Star Wars goodness, and the face off between Richard Garfield’s new iteration, King of New York, and the original classic, King of Tokyo.

Shout it from the Tabletop

This week, Anthony talks about a new ship for X-Wing miniatures that builds something entirely new into the Star Wars Legends expanded universe, and Chris and Anthony both discuss their best and worst lists for the 2014 year in gaming. We soldier on without Drew’s in-depth reporting.

Acquisition Disorder Corner

Anthony continues to pine for all things Star Wars Imperial Assault, especially after his recent acquisition of the game for Christmas, we talk about Fantasy Flight’s Battlelore: Command app, and Chris shares two games he’s hot for – DC Deckbuilding Rivals: Batman vs. Joker & Scythe – the upcoming Kickstarter project from Stonemaier Games.

At the Table

Anthony shares a couple of solo games he’s been playing over the holiday break, including the classic Friedman Friese solo game, Friday, and the always amazing Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. Chris shares his recent plays, including No Thanks and the 10 Year Special Edition (meeple-shaped) Carcassonne.

VS: King of New York vs. King of Tokyo

Since the moment it was announced, we knew our next VS feature would have to be King of New York vs. King of Tokyo. While both games have a lot in common (it’s more of an evolution than a sequel), King of New York does some very interesting and very new things that are worth comparing to the original King of Tokyo that we’ve loved for so many years.

Final Round: 2015 Gamer Resolutions

We share a handful of our gamer resolutions for 2015, from games we want to play to experiences we are eager to enjoy as part of the hobby. Join us making and sharing resolutions for the coming year.
