Episode 17 – Relic Runners & Coup

For this week’s episode, we get a number of new and updated games to the table, including a pair of expansions we’ve been waiting eagerly for and a new game from Days of Wonder that we worried may be flying under the radar. Join Anthony, Chris, Dan and Kim as we discuss Relic Runners this week, along with Coup, Flashpoint Fire Rescue and its newest expansions, and the Summoner Wars Second Summoners.

At the Table

We’ve been waiting for Coup to reach our doorstops for what seems like months and finally the Kickstarter backed game arrived and we got it to the table. Learn what we think and if all that extra time (and a shiny box) are worth the early backing that went into it.

We also talk about the first handful of Second Summoners that have now landed for Summoner Wars and how they shake up the gameplay in that group favorite. Finally, we’ll talk about the newest expansions for Flashpoint Fire Rescue and the depth they add to already one of the best co-op experiences we’ve had the pleasure of playing in recent months.

Feature Review – Relic Runners

On this episode’s feature review, we look at this year’s release from Days of Wonder – Relic Runners. This beautiful looking bath laying game has a bunch of pretty components and a unique mechanic that, while simple, can force a bit of brain bending early. Does the game work in all the ways it sets out to or are there are serious flaws here that keep it from becoming one of Days of Wonders’ better games? The opinions at the table were a little split, but the game has fans – find out who likes it, who doesn’t and whether you should track it down.
