Episode 185 – If You Like Brass, Try…

It’s easy to get caught up in the cult of the new. So easy in fact, that we got caught up in the rerelease of an older game! Thank goodness, though, because Brass (a game Chris and Anthony both missed out on), is amazing. Which is why this week’s episode is full of all things Brass.

To kick things of, we ask our question of the week: Are there any board game franchises for which you will buy just about anything released? Even if you don’t play it very often?

For our acquisition disorders, Anthony looks at Coimbra: Royal Treatment, a small new expansion for Coimbra (and hopefully the first of many), and Chris looks at the surprise announcement of Between Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig.

At the table this week, Anthony dives into not only Brass: Lancashire (the update to the 2006 classic), but also Brass: Birmingham, a newer version with updated rules and new mechanics. Chris then looks at Rise of Fenris, the campaign expansion for Scythe.

Finally, in our feature, we look at six games of varying weights you might like if you also like Brass.

  • Anthony lives and plays games in Philadelphia, PA. A lover of complex strategy, two-player war games, and area control, Anthony is always eager to try a new game, even if he's on rule-reading duty.
