Episode 77 – If You Like Power Grid, Try…

This week, Anthony and Chris get together to talk about some of the games we’ve been playing lately, along with a few of our recent acquisition disorders and the newly announced winners of the 2015 Dice Tower Awards. We’re also discussing the games you should check out if you like Power Grid and are ready for something new.

Acquisition Disorder Corner

This week Anthony is interested in a new time travel game on Kickstarter from Scott Almes called Loop, Inc. wondering how it’s take on time travel will fit the rest of the now growing genre of games that cover the topic. Chris is equally interested in the new expansion for Kemet, Ta-Seti – due to release very soon.

At the Table

Anthony is excited to have finally gotten his copy of Spyrium back to the table after many long months of absence. The game, while a small footprint, is one that has been consistently good and welcomed by many players so it was fun to get another spin with it. Chris talks about his recent play of another Stefan Feld classic (rumored for a reprint coming soon), Luna.

If You Like Power Grid, Try…

In our feature this week, Anthony and Chris take a look at Power Grid, one of the modern classics of the hobby and a game that many people have played just a few times too many. How do you grow beyond a game you’ve played to such an extent? You look for those that fit the same theme or mechanics.

Chris will discuss games with an effective Auction and Bidding system and Anthony discusses games that have similar industrial, infrastructure building themes. Learn what games you should bring to your game group next in this week’s feature.
